Violent Clashes in Tripoli: Head of Stability Support Forces Killed
Violent clashes broke out in several areas of Tripoli on Monday night following the mysterious killing of Abdul Ghani al-Kikli, known as "Gniwa," the head of the Stability Support Forces.
The clashes, involving the Misrata Joint Forces, the 444th Fighting Brigade, the 111th Brigade, and the Directorate Support Force, centered around Abu Salim and Mashrou, the strongholds of Gniwa and his group.
No official statement has been released regarding the cause of the clashes.
Malek Marsit, the spokesperson for the Ambulance and Emergency Center, declared a state of emergency in Tripoli due to the ongoing security escalation. Marsit urged citizens living near the fighting areas to stay indoors and exercise extreme caution, also reminding them to contact the Emergency Center at 1412 for evacuation if needed.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity called on citizens in western Tripoli to remain indoors for their safety.
In a related development, an official source at Mitiga Airport confirmed the implementation of an evacuation plan and the transfer of planes to Misrata Airport as a precautionary measure amid the escalating situation.
