In a televised address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared a "historic victory" for Pakistan following a US-mediated ceasefire agreement with India.
Sharif praised the military for its swift and decisive response during the confrontation with India, saying, “In recent days what the enemy has done was shameful and cowardly. Our brave army in a spectacular fashion made military history. In a few hours our jets silenced India’s guns in a way that history will not soon forget.”
He thanked Trump for mediating the truce and also expressed gratitude to the leaders of China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Türkiye, Qatar, and the UK for their support in achieving the agreement.
“Our forces have been rewarded with the most magnificent honor and pride,” he added, while thanking Pakistan’s military leadership.
