U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged Americans to remain patient following a first-quarter economic contraction, insisting the downturn was not caused by his tariff policies.
Donald Trump blamed former President Joe Biden for the weak numbers, claiming they were a lingering effect of Biden’s term. Trump said the economy would rebound strongly, promising an unprecedented boom once what he called the "Biden overhang" is cleared.
"This will take time", Trump said, adding that the slump had "nothing to do with tariffs" and encouraging the public to "be patient".
