More than 100 dead after flooding in eastern Congo, official says
Over 100 people have died after severe flooding struck a village near Lake Tanganyika in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), exacerbating the region's ongoing challenges.

On Thursday, April 17, a severe storm caused widespread flooding across the Piedmont region, with significant rainfall triggering landslides and flooding in several areas.
The fire brigade reported that more than 300 interventions were carried out in the provinces of Turin and Biella, where the Elvo River overflowed, causing extensive damage. In addition, 14 specialized units, including five from the Asti command, were deployed to support rescue and drainage operations.
In the cities of Turin and Ivrea, around 90 interventions were performed to secure unstable trees and pump water out of flooded basements. Firefighters worked tirelessly to mitigate the damage and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
