Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday to address key international issues, with a particular focus on new U.S. tariffs.
According to the Italian Prime Minister’s weekly agenda, Meloni will engage in two consecutive days of meetings with U.S. officials. After her talks with Trump in Washington, she will return to Rome to host U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who is visiting Italy for Easter.
Italian media reports indicate that the primary topic of Meloni’s visit will be the newly proposed U.S. customs tariffs, which Trump has recently floated for several countries, including EU members.
Beyond trade, the two leaders are also expected to discuss defense spending commitments, the Russia-Ukraine war, developments in the Middle East, U.S.-EU relations, energy cooperation, and ties with China.
