Two workers critically injured after WWII-era ordnance explodes in Slovenia
Two construction workers were critically injured Friday when suspected World War II-era ordnance exploded at a site near Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, police said.
A man has died following an explosion that destroyed a house and prompted evacuations.
Emergency services were called to John Street in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, on Saturday evening just before 8:00 PM BST, after multiple homes were evacuated due to the blast.
On Sunday, police confirmed that the body of a man in his 50s was found in the remains of the house.
Nottinghamshire Police reported that emergency responders attempted to assist the man, but he tragically died at the scene. Chief Inspector Clive Collings stated, "This is a very serious incident that has resulted in the untimely death of a man."
He added, "The man's family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers."
Collings also acknowledged the shock this incident has caused within the Worksop community.
