Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed confidence in strengthening ties with the United States during President Donald Trump’s second term, speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday.
Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, President Erdogan underlined the strategic importance of US-Türkiye relations and expressed optimism about their future, particularly under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
"I believe that our relations with the US will flourish in every field during President Trump's second term, also with the contribution of our close friendship with him," Erdogan said, emphasizing the value Türkiye places on its alliance with the United States.
The Turkish leader addressed the global economic climate, acknowledging the challenges posed by escalating trade tensions and rising customs tariffs. “We are doing everything we can to prevent the heated trade competition through customs tariffs from becoming destructive. Türkiye will be one of the winners of this process,” he stated.
Erdogan also reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to boosting economic cooperation with Washington, highlighting a shared ambition. “We attach great importance to our goal of reaching a $100 billion trade target with our ally and strategic partner, the US,” he said.
