Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit the White House on Monday to discuss recently announced tariffs with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to three Israeli officials.
Netanyahu would be the first foreign leader to meet Trump in person specifically to negotiate a deal regarding the removal of these tariffs.
Israeli officials stated the surprise invitation from Trump occurred during a phone call on Thursday, when Netanyahu, currently visiting Hungary, raised concerns about the tariffs.
Although Netanyahu’s office has not officially confirmed the visit, one White House official and three Israeli officials have verified the planned trip.
However, the exact date of Netanyahu’s visit could change, as he may need to request a postponement of his scheduled testimony in his ongoing corruption trial.
