Russia and Ukraine have agreed to suspend attacks on key energy infrastructure for 30 days, according to a statement published by the Kremlin on Tuesday.
The temporary ceasefire covers oil refineries, gas and oil pipelines, nuclear power stations, hydroelectric dams, and electricity transmission infrastructure, including substations and transformers. Fuel storage sites and pumping stations are also included in the agreement.
The Kremlin stated the list of protected sites was “agreed between the Russian and American sides.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Kyiv had submitted a list of proposed targets during talks with U.S. officials.
The moratorium, which began on March 18, may be extended by mutual consent. However, if one side violates the agreement, the other is no longer bound to comply.
This marks a rare moment of coordination during the war, as efforts intensify to reach a broader ceasefire amid ongoing violence.
