U.S. to import millions of eggs from Türkiye and South Korea

The Trump administration is turning to foreign egg suppliers to ease shortages caused by a devastating bird flu outbreak.

The Trump administration plans to import eggs from Türkiye and South Korea in an effort to bring down record-high prices.

Agricultural officials say hundreds of millions of eggs will be imported in the short term to stabilize the market.

The move comes after the administration announced a $1 billion initiative to combat a severe bird flu outbreak that has led U.S. farmers to cull tens of millions of chickens.

Officials anticipate that domestic egg production will recover within a few months, once chicken populations are replenished and egg-laying operations resume.

Poultry associations in Poland and Lithuania said that they had also been approached by U.S. embassies regarding possible egg exports.
