A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia's eastern Maluku province early Monday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
The tremor, occurring at 1:42 a.m. local time (1842 GMT Sunday), had its epicenter 63 km southeast of Maluku Tengah Regency at a depth of 10 km. No damage, casualties, or tsunami alert were reported.
Indonesia, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is highly seismically active, with 130 active volcanoes. Last week, a 6.1-magnitude quake hit North Sulawesi province.
