Russia and the U.S. have agreed on steps to remove obstacles to financing their embassies, following discussions in Istanbul, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Friday.

Led by Alexander Darchiev and Sonata Coulter, the talks addressed various diplomatic issues inherited from previous U.S. administrations. Both sides committed to ensuring unhindered embassy operations and creating better working conditions for diplomats.

Russia also raised concerns over six diplomatic properties seized in the U.S. between 2016 and 2018 and proposed restoring direct flights.

Emphasising the need for concrete results to improve relations, Moscow and Washington agreed to continue diplomatic engagements.
