President Donald Trump said the U.S. is close to an agreement with Ukraine on sharing mineral revenue as part of efforts to end the war, aiming to recoup military aid sent to Kyiv.
Speaking at a conservative gathering in Maryland, Trump said negotiations were progressing on a deal that would allow the U.S. to receive rare earths, oil, or other resources from Ukraine.
The U.S. has provided billions in military aid to Kyiv since Russia's invasion, and Trump emphasized the need to secure returns on that support.
Details of the agreement remain unclear, and Kyiv has not yet commented on the proposal.
