China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Bolivian counterpart Celinda Sosa at the United Nations on Tuesday, reaffirming Beijing’s commitment to strengthening ties with Bolivia and Latin America.
During the meeting, Wang Yi expressed China’s willingness to "continuously elevate the China-Bolivia strategic partnership," according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. He assured Sosa that China remains a "trustworthy friend and partner of Latin America."
China also reiterated its stance on the region’s sovereignty, stating that "Latin America belongs to its people and is not any country’s 'backyard’."
The meeting highlights Beijing’s ongoing diplomatic outreach in Latin America, as China expands its economic and political influence in the region.
