Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announces cooperation with the U.S. on a "common strategy" for Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, says he is working to implement United States President Donald Trump’s plan to remove and resettle Gaza’s population.
Netanyahu stated that he is coordinating with the United States on a common strategy for Gaza following a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem.
During the meeting, Rubio and Netanyahu presented a united front against their shared adversaries, warning they would "open the gates of hell" on Hamas if all remaining hostages held by the militant group in Gaza were not released.
The remarks came a day after Hamas freed three Israeli hostages in exchange for 369 Palestinian prisoners—the sixth such swap under the ceasefire agreement, mediated with the help of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.
Discussions also focused on Iran, with Netanyahu vowing to "finish the job" against Iran with Trump's backing. Both Rubio and Netanyahu accused Iran of fueling regional violence and reaffirmed their opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.
Rubio is currently on his first Middle East tour as the United States’ top diplomat. In the coming days, he is set to meet Russian officials in Saudi Arabia for potential peace talks on the war in Ukraine—a meeting that neither Ukraine nor other European nations have been invited to.
