A Russian SU-24MR military jet reportedly flew 6.5 km into Polish airspace over the Gdansk Bay, Poland’s Operational Command stated. The aircraft remained for over a minute before changing course, with Russia attributing the incident to a navigation failure.
Polish authorities claimed the aircraft entered from Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave before returning. Poland’s Operational Command said they were in contact with Russian officials, who acknowledged the violation and cited a navigation system failure as the cause.
The Polish army command stated that the flight path was adjusted after intervention from Russian military navigators. The incident raises concerns amid ongoing regional tensions, with Warsaw maintaining close scrutiny of its airspace.
