Israeli forces have withdrawn from the entire city of Hebron in the southern West Bank after a 10-day military operation that displaced thousands of Palestinians and left homes demolished, infrastructure damaged and businesses disrupted, according to the city's governor.
Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin said on Monday, 2 November, that Palestinian security forces had regained full control of the area following the Israeli withdrawal.
Families forced to flee their homes can now return, he said, adding that local authorities and security personnel were monitoring conditions and working to ensure their safe return.

The Israeli army launched the operation on 23 October following a shooting attack by two Palestinians that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others. Israeli forces later killed both attackers.
During the operation, Israeli troops imposed closures across Hebron and surrounding villages, seized Palestinian homes in the Al-Jalda and Ein Deir Baha neighbourhoods and converted them into military posts.
The military campaign also involved forced displacement and the demolition of homes and other structures, while commercial properties and local infrastructure were damaged.
According to the Hebron Governorate, more than 3,300 Palestinians were displaced or otherwise affected, particularly in the two neighbourhoods.
The governorate said 15 homes and other structures were demolished, while the operation also damaged the local economy, affected infrastructure and disrupted education.

Dudin said Palestinian authorities were working alongside security forces to monitor the situation and create safe conditions for displaced residents to return.
The withdrawal comes after 10 days of military activity that left residential areas damaged and thousands of Palestinians affected.
