Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday that a potential meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia could take place during the G20 summit in Miami in December, although neither Washington nor Moscow has confirmed the talks.

Speaking to reporters in a WhatsApp media chat, Zelenskyy said several possible locations were being considered, including European and Middle Eastern countries.

“The meeting could then take place in the United States during the G20 summit. But there has been no confirmation yet from either Russia or the United States. It could also be held in a European country,” he said.

Zelenskyy added that the United States had repeatedly suggested the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia as potential venues as well.

The G20 summit, scheduled for December in Miami, will bring together major economies, including the United States and Russia. Ukraine is not a member of the group.

Zelenskyy said Ukrainian negotiators held discussions with U.S. officials on Friday but did not provide further details about the talks.

He also stressed the need for Europe to establish its own negotiating channel with Russia, as relations remain strained by Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

The potential diplomatic meeting comes amid disagreements over U.S. sanctions policy towards Russia.

U.S. President Donald Trump has declined to impose tougher sanctions on Moscow, while Zelenskyy has criticised Washington’s decision to ease restrictions on Russian diesel exports.

Meanwhile, Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have continued. According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces carried out one of their largest strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector on Friday, targeting more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities across several regions.
