A child was killed and five other people injured in Russian air strikes on Kyiv and the surrounding region early on Wednesday, Ukrainian officials have said.
The attacks occurred early on Wednesday. A witness reported hearing explosions in the city.
Kyiv's Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said on Telegram that fires had broken out, affecting private houses as well as a shop and a warehouse. Two people were injured in the city, he said.
Tymur Tkachenko, Governor of the Kyiv region, said a Russian missile and drone strike had killed a child and injured three more people. Infrastructure facilities, houses, warehouses and cars were also damaged, he wrote on Telegram.
On Tuesday, Ukraine’s Minister for Digital Transformation, Oksana Ferchuk, said the country planned to draw on military expertise and digital innovation gained during the conflict to boost high-tech exports.
She said the country was exploring cooperation agreements with countries, including the U.S., as well as international institutions.
“Ukraine during the war showed this tremendous speed of digitising the state services and providing the services to the population in a digital way,” Ferchuk said.
Earlier this week she travelled to Washington to meet with U.S. economic, cybersecurity and telecommunications officials, as well as senior leaders at global development organisation, the World Bank.
“We are ready to cooperate and consult other states in this experience, how it was done, how it was analysed, what is the architecture,” she added.
Ukraine, which has become a test bed for new weaponry during the war, is already helping other countries build their drone defences
“The technology is developing so fast that I would like to repeat this in civil use and show that by missing investment into Ukraine, the companies or countries will miss transformation of new sectors,” she added.
