The Russian embassy in Germany said Berlin’s claims were an absurd provocation that served the interests of Ukraine, European political elites and arms manufacturers.
Moscow also warned that any German sanctions imposed over the Leipzig allegations would not go unanswered, describing the claim that Russia was behind the attempted attack as “baseless and absurd”.
Russia will respond to Germany's "anti-Russian actions", Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday, according to Interfax news agency, after Berlin said it held Moscow responsible for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle airport last month.
Earlier, Germany ordered a series of measures in response, including the closure of a Russian cultural centre in Berlin and the Russian consulate in Bonn.
