Flight tracker shows American Airlines jet path before crash

An American Airlines jet and U.S. Army Black Hawk collided near Reagan National Airport on January 29. Flight data shows the jet’s signal was lost over the Potomac River.

On Wednesday night, an American Airlines regional jet collided mid-air with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport. Flight data from Flightradar24.com tracked the jet’s route before it  signal was lost over the Potomac River.

Multiple agencies are conducting a search and rescue operation in the river. In response to the incident, Reagan Airport temporarily suspended all takeoffs and landings while emergency crews worked on-site.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
