Oil prices extended losses in early trading after the U.S. and Iran paused hostilities, with Brent crude falling 1.66% to $86.89 a barrel and U.S.West Texas Intermediate dropping 1.76% to $81.16, according to Reuters.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate phone calls with his Saudi and Omani counterparts to discuss security arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz, according to a ministry statement.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of the development of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, both bilaterally and within the framework of reputable international organisations, primarily the United Nations.
The two countries also discussed trade and economic issues, as well as exchanged views on strengthening the role of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Turkmenistan condemned Ukraine's reported attack on an Iranian cargo ship in the Caspian Sea as unacceptable, saying the world's largest inland body of water should remain a "sea of peace, harmony and good-neighbourliness".
''On 25 July 2026, the reports were published in the international mass media concerning the attack on a sea-going vessel in the waters of the Caspian Sea. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan declares about the inadmissibility of such actions. As a Caspian littoral state and the country with a status of permanent neutrality recognized by the United Nations, Turkmenistan underlines that the Caspian Sea is a sea of peace, harmony and good-neighborliness,” the Ministry said.
Iran's Deputy Speaker Hamid-Reza Haji-Babaei warned Ukraine that any further "mischief" in the region or the Caspian Sea would trigger a "regretful response" from Iran, accusing Kyiv's "taskmasters" of using Ukraine as a contractor.
While chairing the Parliament session on Monday (27 July) he added, “America should not be allowed to fight whenever it wants and declare a ceasefire whenever it wants. Iran must stand strong against America's will and not allow America to be an active player in the region. The Strait of Hormuz created great power for the Iranian nation and today it is the pinnacle of our power. This pinnacle of power and dignity of the great Iranian nation must be supported and protected.”
Iran's embassy in Poland warned Ukraine that Tehran reserves the right to respond under the UN Charter, accusing President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of trying to draw Europe and NATO into conflict with Iran and warning that "Iran's restraint is not endless."
Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, condemned what he said was a Ukrainian drone attack on a commercial Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea, insisting it was carrying no military cargo.
He said Iran expects Russia to respond to what he called a "criminal" attack, noting it took place in Russian territorial waters, and confirmed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to visit Tehran soon.
