Ukraine reports that Russia launched a wave of drones in an overnight assault on Friday in the suburbs of Kyiv, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and significant damage to residential and commercial properties.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry claims that drone debris killed two men and a woman in the central Kyiv region, with another person injured. Authorities confirmed that the attack caused extensive damage to a multi-storey residential building, eight private homes, commercial properties, and several private cars, as reported by Kyiv regional officials.
Ukrainian officials also reported that Russian forces deployed over 7,000 drones in 2024, at least double the number used in 2023. While most drones were intercepted or diverted by electronic warfare, many still successfully struck their targets.
Moscow denies intentionally targeting civilians.
