U.S. President Donald Trump called his recent phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin “very good.” The two leaders spoke on Monday about the situation in Iran and other international issues.

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said the call lasted about an hour and was requested by the U.S. making it the first direct conversation between Trump and Putin since December 2025.

During the call, Putin suggested a plan for a quick political and diplomatic solution in Iran, based on his talks with leaders in Iran and the Gulf. Trump shared his views on the U.S.-Israeli military operations.

Ushakov described the discussion as “very substantial and useful.”

Trump told reporters that Putin seemed willing to help with the Iran conflict but did not give further details.

He added that they both discussed about Ukraine which Trump termed a 'never-ending fight', adding that Putin and Zelenskyy can't seem to 'get it together'

He also said the conversation covered wider issues, including the Middle East.
