At least 16 Palestinians were killed, including children, in an Israeli strike on a school in Gaza's Nuseirat camp on October 24, Nuseirat's Al-Awda hospital said. It said 32 people were wounded.
Wounded children and women could be seen being carried out on mattresses and in the arms of men, the dead wrapped in blankets.
The Israeli military said it had hit a Hamas command and control center on Thursday housed in a compound formerly used as a school in the area of Nuseirat in the Gaza Strip.
Prior to the strike, the military said it took numerous steps to mitigate the risk of harming civilians.
According to an eyewitness who did not give his name, all those impacted by the strike were either women or children.
In the year since Hamas rampaged through Israeli towns killing 1,200 people and capturing more than 250 hostages, Israel has laid Gaza to waste to root out Hamas.
More than 42,847 Palestinians have been killed and 100,544 injured in Israel's military offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, the Gaza health ministry said on Thursday.
