Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived in Qatar on Friday to take part in the 2025 Doha Forum, the annual global conference bringing together political leaders, business figures, and academics.
Al-Sharaa was accompanied by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Marwan Al-Halabi, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The two-day event, opening on Saturday, will feature senior figures including Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, World Economic Forum President Borge Brende, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates.
Programme sessions will tackle pressing global issues, including the situation in Gaza, Gulf–EU relations, responsible military use of artificial intelligence, and U.S.–China strategic relations.
This year’s forum is expected to host more than 6,000 participants from over 150 countries. By comparison, the 2024 edition, themed “The Innovation Imperative,” drew more than 5,000 attendees and over 350 speakers.
