U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll and Chief of Staff General Randy George met with senior Ukrainian officials in Kyiv on Wednesday (19 November) as part of a fact-finding mission.

According to the U.S. embassy in Kyiv, the meetings included Ukraine’s Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Social media posts from Ukrainian officials indicated that the U.S. delegation was briefed on Russia’s troop build-up, ongoing offensive operations, and missile strikes on residential areas, which have caused numerous civilian casualties.

The discussions also focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air and missile defences, enhancing long-range strike and unmanned capabilities, and providing training for Defence Forces personnel.
