Russia has launched its new nuclear-powered submarine, the Khabarovsk, at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk, the Defence Ministry said Saturday.

The launching ceremony took place at JSC Production Association Sevmash, one of Russia’s largest shipbuilding enterprises. The Defence Ministry said the submarine is equipped with advanced underwater weapons and robotic systems designed to strengthen the country’s naval capabilities and safeguard its national interests in global waters.

Defence Minister Andrei Belousov expressed gratitude to the engineers and shipbuilders involved in the project, praising their “conscientious and high-quality work.” He noted that the vessel will next undergo a series of sea trials before entering full service.

“I wish the crew and the commissioning team success in conducting the trials,” Belousov said, according to the ministry’s statement.
