At least two civilians were killed and 17 others injured after Russian forces shelled several settlements in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region, the regional prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

The statement said Russia used artillery and drones of various types, striking residential areas and damaging apartment blocks, a student dormitory, shops, religious sites, garages, and vehicles.

Russia has not commented on the claims, and independent verification remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict.

The Kherson region has been under frequent attack since the start of full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Moscow’s troops continue to launch strikes from the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, often targeting civilian areas across the water.

Local officials said emergency services are working to clear debris and provide aid to residents affected by the latest wave of attacks.

Russia has not commented on the claims, and independent verification remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict.
