Hamas has handed over the bodies of two Israeli hostages to Red Cross teams in Gaza, who are now transferring them to the Israeli army.
“The bodies of two Israeli fatalities are now in the hands of the Red Cross and on their way to the army,” reported Israel’s Channel 12.
Neither Israel nor Hamas has made an official comment on the handover.
The group’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, previously said the handover will take place at 10 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT).
Under the ceasefire deal reached last week, Hamas previously released 20 living Israeli hostages and returned the remains of 11 others in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
The agreement, based on a plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump, also includes steps to rebuild Gaza and establish a new governing mechanism excluding Hamas.
