Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire by killing Palestinians while Israel says it wants the bodies of all hostages returned

President Donald Trump said on Thursday, October 16, that further U.S.-backed intervention could be necessary if Hamas fails to uphold its ceasefire commitments.

Trump added that additional bodies of hostages held by Hamas were returned to Israel, describing the situation as “tough” but emphasizing that the hostages already returned had been a matter of luck and careful negotiation. He stressed that the U.S. would monitor Hamas’ behavior closely, acting decisively if commitments are not honored.
