UN Secretary-General António Guterres has extended his condolences following the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft in western Kazakhstan, which claimed the lives of many people, including citizens from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
In a statement, UN spokesperson Stéphanie Tremblay conveyed Guterres’ deep sorrow over the tragedy, offering condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. “The Secretary-General is profoundly saddened by the devastating plane crash in western Kazakhstan, which resulted in many fatalities. He sends his heartfelt condolences to the victims' families and sympathy to the affected nations,” she said.
