Israeli PM rejects Western recognition of Palestinian state

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that recent recognitions of a Palestinian state by some Western countries will not “bind Israel in any way.”

“A Palestinian state will not arise,” Netanyahu’s office posted on X.

Earlier, dozens of world leaders at the United Nations embraced the idea of a Palestinian state, marking a significant diplomatic shift nearly two years into the Gaza conflict, though it faces strong opposition from Israel and its close ally, the United States.
