Ecuadorian authorities have seized more than $313 million in real estate assets from the armed group Comandos de la Frontera, or 'Border Command,' in a large-scale police operation, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry stated that the group had been “funnelling large amounts of money into the national financial system from illicit activities, including organised crime linked to drug trafficking.”

President Daniel Noboa described the operation on social media as the “biggest blow to criminal economies in Ecuador’s history.”
