UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in London on Tuesday to discuss Israel’s recent strike on the Hamas delegation in Qatar and ongoing developments in Ukraine.

According to a statement from 10 Downing Street, Starmer condemned the attack on the Hamas delegation and urged that actions escalating tensions in the region be avoided.

The leaders also discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stressing the importance of ensuring Ukraine receives sufficient military assistance. Both expressed satisfaction with the support provided by allies to Ukraine so far.

Starmer and Rutte agreed that efforts to integrate the United States into the Volunteers Coalition are progressing correctly and underlined the need to maintain pressure on Russia to bring it to the negotiating table.

Rutte welcomed the recent military ship agreement between the UK and Norway, which Starmer said would strengthen Euro-Atlantic security.
