Trump threatens trade probe over EU’s $3.46B Google fine
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday denounced the European Union’s $3.46 billion antitrust fine against Google and warned he could launch a broader trade investigation in response.
“We cannot let this happen to brilliant and unprecedented American ingenuity, and if it does, I will be forced to start a Section 301 proceeding to nullify the unfair penalties being charged to these taxpaying American companies,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
The EU announced the fine earlier this week, accusing Google of abusing its dominance in online advertising to stifle competition.
