The United States has warned other countries that recognising a Palestinian state could lead to greater complications, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday.
Speaking from Quito, where he met with President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador, Rubio stated: “We have told all these countries that such recognition efforts are not genuine. If they go ahead, it will create problems.”
He added that these actions could hinder efforts to reach a ceasefire and might even provoke the kinds of incidents currently being observed. Rubio declined to comment on Israel’s discussions regarding the annexation of the West Bank, emphasising that no decisions have been finalised.
