Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Moscow and Tehran are in regular contact on a broad range of international issues, including developments related to Iran’s nuclear programme.

Putin made the remarks during talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. The two leaders discussed cooperation within the framework of the SCO as well as bilateral ties.

The meeting highlighted the close coordination between Russia and Iran at a time of heightened regional and global tensions, with both countries seeking to expand their roles within multilateral platforms such as the SCO.
