Support for Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s government continued to rebound in August, extending a recovery from earlier this year, according to a poll published on Wednesday.

The Genial/Quaest survey put approval of Lula’s administration at 46 per cent, up from 43 per cent in July and 40 per cent in May.

Disapproval fell to 51 per cent, down from 53 per cent last month and 57 per cent in May – the highest level recorded during Lula’s three non-consecutive terms in office.

The poll, conducted in person between 13 and 17 August among 2,004 eligible voters, has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.
