Japanese boxer Hiromasa Urakawa has died at 28 following injuries sustained in a Tokyo ring during a fight with Yoji Saito, the World Boxing Organization confirmed.
The tragic death occurred after Urakawa’s bout with fellow Japanese boxer Yoji Saito. The match ended in the eighth round when Saito won by technical knockout.
The World Boxing Organization’s press service announced the news, confirming Urakawa’s death from injuries received during the fight.
This incident follows the death of another Japanese boxer, 28-year-old Shigetosi Kotari, who also competed in the same tournament. Kotari suffered a subdural hematoma and underwent emergency surgery, but later died from his injuries.
