Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday described his call with U.S. President Donald Trump as "productive", saying the two leaders discussed ways to halt the ongoing conflict with Russia.

"It is truly a must to stop the killing as soon as possible, and we fully support this," Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X.

The Ukrainian president said the conversation also covered sanctions against Russia, expanding cooperation with NATO member states, and boosting bilateral defence ties between Ukraine and the United States.

Zelensky added that Ukraine had already prepared a draft agreement on drone cooperation with the United States, indicating a new phase of technological and military collaboration.

The call comes amid renewed international efforts to end the conflict, now in its third year. According to the UN, tens of thousands have been killed, and millions displaced since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
