Cambodia has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire with Thailand as border clashes between the two Southeast Asian neighbors escalated for a second consecutive day, AFP reports.
Amid rising tensions and continued artillery exchanges along the Cambodia-Thailand border, Cambodia has appealed for a swift and unconditional halt to the conflict, according to AFP.
Speaking after a closed-door UN Security Council meeting on Friday, Cambodia’s UN Ambassador Chhea Keo urged a peaceful resolution to the conflict. “Cambodia asked for an immediate ceasefire – unconditionally – and we also call for the peaceful solution of the dispute,” Keo was quoted as saying by AFP.
