Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday, marking the first official visit by a top Israeli diplomat to Ukraine in more than two years.

Israeli media described the trip as a “diplomatic visit,” though no further details have been shared about his agenda or how long he will stay.

Sa’ar is the highest-ranking Israeli official to travel to Ukraine since February 2023, when Eli Cohen, the foreign minister at the time, made a similar trip.

In June, Israeli Ambassador Michael Brodsky revealed that Israel had transferred Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine. These systems were originally supplied to Israel by the U.S. and have been in use since the 1990s.
