A fire at a high-rise apartment building in Türkiye’s capital, Ankara, has killed three people — including a three-and-a-half-month-old baby — and left dozens suffering from smoke inhalation, according to local media.

The blaze broke out around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday on the fourth floor of a 26-story residential complex and quickly spread through the building, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Fire crews battled the flames for four hours before bringing it under control.

Authorities said 39 people were treated for smoke inhalation, including seven firefighters.

Twenty people were taken to hospital, with one reported to be in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
