The death toll from flash floods in Texas has risen to at least 43, including 15 children, officials said on Saturday.

Flooding along the Guadalupe River has left dozens missing, with around 27 campers unaccounted for at Camp Mystic.

Donald Trump called the flooding ‘terrible’ as emergency teams continue searching for dozens of missing children. Texas Governor Greg Abbott described urged residents to shelter in place while search and rescue operations continue.

More than 850 people have been rescued so far, with emergency crews still active amid ongoing severe weather and flood warnings.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, acting as governor, confirmed children are among those dead and missing. Authorities cautioned against independent searches due to hazardous conditions.

Abbott expanded the disaster declaration to include several counties and requested federal assistance.
