FIBA Europe has announced that the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2025 will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, from August 8-16, 2025. The Georgian Basketball Federation was announced as a host.
The event, initially scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, has been relocated, with the Georgian Basketball Federation approved as the new host.
FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2025 will serve as the qualifier for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 in Türkiye, with the the five top-ranked teams earning qualification, along with host nation Türkiye, who have a direct berth.
The draws for the FIBA Youth EuroBasket 2025 tournaments took place in Freising, Germany on 28th January.
The FIBA U16 EuroBasket is the new name for the FIBA U16 European Championship, originally known as the FIBA European Championship for Cadets.
Held annually across 16 events in three age categories for both men and women, these competitions offer emerging athletes the chance to test themselves against Europe's elite and proudly represent their nations on the international stage.
The participating teams were sorted into groups based on their seeding, across the 16 tournaments at Under-20, Under-18 and Under-16 categories.
