Armenia has proposed elevating its cooperation with Cyprus to the level of a strategic partnership, a move positively received by Cypriot officials.

The announcement was made by Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan during a joint press conference with Anita Demetriou, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus.

"During our meeting, we discussed various issues concerning bilateral relations," Simonyan said. "We also proposed raising our cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership, and Ms. Demetriou responded positively to this proposal."

The two sides also discussed collaboration on various international platforms, with Simonyan emphasizing Demetriou’s consistent support for Armenia.

"Ms. Demetriou is one of Armenia’s most vocal and sincere friends on the international stage," he noted. "Wherever my colleague is present, Armenia has two microphones. I am deeply grateful to Ms. Demetriou and our friend Cyprus. Armenia, in turn, always stands with Cyprus and the Cypriot people."
