The 12 teams that finish second in their respective groups will be joined by the top 4 group winners from the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League overall standings, who did not qualify directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These 16 teams will be divided into 4 paths, with each path consisting of 4 teams. After single-legged semi-finals and finals, one team from each path (a total of 4 teams) will earn a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals.
