Natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia will be temporarily suspended for 11 days while planned maintenance and repair work is carried out on a pipeline in Russia, the Armenian subsidiary of Russian state energy firm Gazprom has said.
The suspension will run from 15-25 September, Gazprom Armenia said in a statement.
Domestic gas reserves and additional natural gas supplies from Iran will make up the shortfall during the shut-off period, the firm added.
Repair work will be carried out on the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia gas pipeline on Russian territory.
The Soviet-era gas pipeline transports Russian gas from the North Caucasus to the South Caucasus and runs from Mozdok in Russia, through Georgia to Armenia.
It’s the only route by which Russian gas reaches Armenia. In 2025, the pipeline transported 2.7 billion cubic metres of gas to Armenia.
Landlocked Armenia relies heavily on Moscow for energy, with 82 per cent of its gas imported from Russia last year, according to the Interfax news agency.
