Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, marking another milestone in the carrier's long-term fleet modernisation programme aimed at improving efficiency, expanding capacity and enhancing the passenger experience.

The aircraft was handed over at Airbus' facilities in Hamburg and is the latest addition to AZAL's growing Airbus fleet, which now includes the A319ceo, A320ceo, A320neo and A321neo.

The delivery is part of an agreement signed in 2024 for six new Airbus aircraft, comprising three A321neos and three A320neos. Two A320neos have already entered service, while the remaining aircraft are expected to join the fleet by November 2026.

Designed for medium- and long-haul routes, the A321neo will allow the airline to increase capacity on high-demand destinations while improving operational efficiency. Compared with previous-generation aircraft, it consumes around 20% less fuel, produces lower carbon emissions per seat and has a range of up to 7,400 kilometres.

Passengers travelling on the new aircraft will also benefit from Airbus' latest Airspace cabin, featuring larger overhead storage bins, redesigned interiors, full LED lighting, next-generation in-flight entertainment and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity.

The latest addition supports AZAL's long-term strategy to expand its fleet to 50 aircraft by 2032, strengthening its regional network while improving operational performance and passenger comfort.
